REAL WORLD

As a Jewish Italian, most of my recipes are very familiar, and I never have ingredients like miso paste or sesame oil in my home. But I love eating at Asian restaurants, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to try cooking this kind of food at home. I could not believe how easy it was, how fast it was, and how delicious it was. The finished dish tasted a lot like the miso cod at Nobu’s, which I love! Every time I eat there I am amazed at how intricate the tastes are, and here I was making it at home, in no time! The glaze seems so versatile to me; I am going to try it out on other fish too, starting with cod. The only change I made was omitting the ginger from the glaze, because I just don’t like it. Noah, twelve months, surprised me by eating the fish and asking for more. He is a great eater, but I hadn’t expected him to enjoy the Asian flavorings. And my husband, Steven, was just thrilled at the change in the dinner menu. I wanted to make some side dishes, too, so I tried out the Sesame Lotus Root Soba Noodles (excellent!) and the Sugar Snap Peas with Tomato and Mint (Yum!). As a dentist who truly believes that you are what you eat, I was pleased to find easy and delicious options for making such healthy foods.
